de Ribeir{\~a}o Preto. Foi feito um tratamento autom{\'a}tico
usando tr{\^e}s diferentes algoritmos (SINGLE-CELL, MAXVER e
MEDIA K). Posteriormente foram obtidos dispositivos que foram
projetados e interpretados visualmente.

objectives of thid work were: a) to establish a methodology to
estimate areas of cultivated soil for planting, trough the use of
sensing techiques with emphasis on visual and digital analysis of
MSS data and visual analysis of RBV data from LANDSAT satellite;
b) to determine the most efficient algorithm for cultivated usig
the interactive multispectral image analysis system (Image-100);
c) to verify the changes in cultivated areas as a function of
three acquisition dates, and; d) identify the targets that are
frequently mistaken with cultivated soils. A study area in the
Ribeir{\~a}o Preto DIRA was used in this work. An automatic
interpretation of the LANDSAT data was made using three different
algorithms (SINGLE-CELL, MAXVER, and MEDIA K). After, photographic
transparencies were obtained, projected and visually interpreted.
The results obtained show that: a) the MAXVER algorithm presented
a better classification performance; b) the verification of the
changes in cultivated {\'a}reas using data from the three
different acquisition dates was possible; c) the water bodies,
degraded lands, urban areas, and fallow fields were frequently
mistaken by cultivated soils; d) the use of projected photographic
transparencies furnished satisfactory results, besides reducing
the time spent on the Image-100 system.",
